5th and 6th July 2022: "Playing the notes is just the beginning!" - Maria Linnemann

During this two workshops "Music begins with one note" and "Playing music is just the beginning", Maria Linnemann will focus on creating a beautiful tone - which can initially be one note - and the associated issue of listening to oneself, which can be learned from an early age. She will also deal with the issue of group teaching and its advantages and disadvantages, as well as chamber music, pupil and teacher motivation and, last but not least, the importance of expressing the emotional and musical content of the work. In this workshop, Maria will also present her latest works for beginning guitarists and her own insight into guitar methodology.

7th July 2022: Easy guitar pieces and other publications - Stanislav Juřica

7th July 2022: Percussive guitar techniques - Sönke Meinen

7th July 2022: Guitar presentation

8th and 9th July 2022: "Guitar orchestra as a tool for integrative artistic development" - Josué Gutiérrez

Josué Gutiérrez will present a chamber music workshop for the first time at the festival. The value of music as a whole is enormous. The advantages of chamber music are both social and pedagogical, as well as didactic or have human (emotional) aspects. The guitar orchestra thus becomes a place to explore the sound environment (sound color, tone color) or the sound of the whole ensemble. Last but not least, it is also a space for exploring oneself in interaction with other players.

Daily: Guitar orchestra - Josué Gutiérrez

The Mikulov Philharmonic Orchestra has been a festival tradition for over a decades. A guitar orchestra composed of festival participants will perform at the final afternoon concert.

Daily: Alexander technique - Michael Parkinson

Many musicians like myself began to learn to play an instrument at an early age. We all wanted to play well hopefully as well as our teachers, or players we heard and admired. Our teachers and parents also wanted to see us progress very quickly and be successful. But as with learning many other skills in life such as writing, painting, sports etc. it was very easy for us and our teachers / parents to focus attention on the results and not so much on the way we achieved these results. Frederick Mathias Alexander (1869-1955) called this the “endgaining” approach to learning. The Alexander Technique is a method of helping people discover how they are using their bodies when performing an activity: for example walking, sitting and standing or indeed something more specialized like playing a musical instrument. One can learn with the help of an Alexander Teacher to recognize and reduce the unnecessary habitual tensions and interferences which not only hold up our technical progress, but may also cause us pain while playing. Because of the obvious benefits to performers, the Alexander Technique has been an integral part of the musical curriculum at many major musical institutions worldwide for the past 30 years, especially in Britain and the USA.
